Press Release: Today we are celebrating 14 years of PLD Space, 14 laps around the Sun driving innovation in space access! On 12 September 2011, Raúl Torres and Raúl Verdú founded this company with the aim of transforming the traditional space transportation model. In these 14 years, we have achieved milestone after milestone, claiming countless ‘firsts’ in the European space industry. This leadership is sustained by a cultural heritage that remains intact throughout the team: a unique blend of resilience, tireless work and constant dynamism.
Throughout these 14 years, we have blazed a trail in European and Spanish space history: from designing and firing Spain’s first liquid-fuelled rocket engine, to the first European drop test of a launcher to prove our recovery capability. These milestones include our greatest to date: successfully launching MIURA 1, which no one has yet managed to surpass, where we once again demonstrated our ability to deliver what we promise. This delivery-oriented approach has established us as one of Europe’s most promising launcher companies.
Yet these 14 years have been about much more than technology. Above all, this has been an ongoing process of developing a strong, unified team guided by shared values. A team that accepts mistakes as part of the process, that thrives in the face of difficulty and never loses focus. Resilience, understood as an engine for improvement, is today one of our greatest assets: it enables us to move forward, to learn, to adapt and to try again, each time more solidly.
Our ability to adapt has been key in getting us this far. In a sector in which agility is crucial, we are committed to eliminating bureaucracy so as to meet the market’s demands. Each iteration makes us more efficient, faster and better prepared for the challenges ahead.
We look to the future with renewed ambition. And we do so as we have always done: working with humility, learning without fear of error and delivering results that make a difference.
